    The role of an Admissions Representative at LIBI involves service to the institution and service to prospective students. The overall responsibility of the position is to help students understand the process of transition to college, admission criteria, and the competitiveness of the academic programs available at LIBI. The incumbent is expected to be thoroughly conversant with the programs offered at the college and to be able to present them in a candid, forthcoming and clear manner. A LIBI Admissions Representative must also have a firm understanding of our college mission, enrollment goals, and student and departmental needs. The incumbent is also expected to maintain frequent contact with prospective students. As such, good communication skills are essential to job success.  

     

    A successful Admissions Representative serves a vital role in establishing good matches between students and LIBI and never misrepresents the college, the programs we offer, or scarifies the reputation of the college in an attempt to meet the department’s enrollment goals.

    Responsibilities

    • Understand the mission of LIBI.
    • Understand and explain each academic program offered at LIBI.
    • Provide information and assistance to prospective students (first time students as well as potential transfer students), families, and high school counselors on the academic, curricular, and co-curricular offerings available at LIBI.
    • Effectively evaluate the qualifications of applicants.
    • Effectively implement LIBI’s strategic enrollment and recruitment plan.
    • Work with other departments and the senior administrators of the college to develop, implement, and evaluate enrollment policies and goals for LIBI.
    • Establish cooperative relationships with high school counselors and other relevant constituencies to help further LIBI’s goal of increasing enrollment of high school graduates.
    • Recognize the benefits of cooperating with LIBI’s student affairs personnel to enhance the educational experiences students receive at LIBI.
    • Work cooperatively with other campus offices to ensure that students are not only recruited but retained and eventually graduate.
    • Ensure that all necessary documents are collected in compliance with all state and federal requirements and LIBI’s policies.
    • Perform other duties as needed.

    Qualifications

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above satisfactorily.
    • Minimum educational requirement: Two-year degree from an accredited college;
    • One to two years related experience and/or training in admissions, sales or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills;
    • Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and in group settings;
    • Should be highly knowledgeable and comfortable working in a computer setting and be able, through training, to learn LIBI’s database system;
    • Must have excellent typing skills and must be able to correctly input data into the database.
